Award Descriptions

Volunteer of the Year
Description
Given to an individual who has demonstrated tremendous commitment to the Club’s mission, who instills good morals, and who promotes good citizenship to the Club’s youth.
Criteria
This recipient is someone who volunteers directly in working with the Club's youth to help them realize their full potential or who has devoted their time and energy to enhancing the Club experience.

Jacob Crowell
Description
Presented in honor of our Camp Director, Jake, who passed unexpectedly. This award is given to a current or former staff member who creates a positive BGC environment and culture that encompassed the BGC mission while creating a unique experience for each child.
Criteria
This recipient is someone who continuously elevates the quality of our programming, creating deep individual relationships with our members while going above and beyond for the Club.

David P. Leys, Jr. Memorial Award
Description
Given to an individual who has shown courage in the face of adversity, promotes healthy lifestyles and athletics (especially for youth), and has inspired others to give back to their communities.
Criteria
The recipient is someone who has contributed either to the Club or to the local community, demonstrated courage in difficult circumstances, is an inspiration to all, and shows an unwavering 'Never Give Up" attitude.

Lifetime Achievement
Description
Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding commitment through support, volunteerism, and/or the encouragement of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and community involvement.
Criteria
The recipient is someone who has demonstrated a course of action or contributions that significantly and positively altered the Club's future and that has impacted the Club in multiple ways.

Outstanding Service
Desciption
Presented to an individual or family who, through their actions and activities spanning many years has contributed to the evolution of today’s Boys & Girls Club.
Criteria
The recipient is someone who has demonstrated a course of action or contributions that significantly and positively altered the Club's future and that has impacted the Club in multiple ways.

Outstanding Corporation/Foundation
Description
Given to a corporation or foundation that has dedicated time and resources for the betterment of youth.
Criteria
Whether through the Club or the local community, this recipient has provided enrichment activities, programs, or new opportunities that encourage youth to learn and expand their areas of interest.

Community Excellence
Descriptions
To recognize an individual or organization whose dedication, vision, and service to youth have made a positive difference in the community.
Criteria
The recipient is someone who has excelled in any of the Boys & Girls' three main program areas: Academic Success, Character and Citizenship Development, or Healthy Lifestyles pertaining to youth whether at the Club or through the local community.

Spirit of Youth
Description
Generously given of their time and energy, is a positive role model who provides guidance and support while encouraging others to do the same.
Criteria
The recipient is someone who has dedicated much of their time and talents to educating, coaching, and inspiring youth to realize their full potential.

Distinguished Alumni
Description
This award honors an individual or family with a proven record of exceptional generosity who, through direct support - financial or otherwise demonstrates outstanding civic and charitable responsibility encouraging others to be philanthropic.
Criteria
This recipient is someone who demonstrated leadership with the Club and/or in serving the local community. Has 5 years of consistent giving - financial or otherwise and has in some way helped to propel the Club forward. Special life achievements will be included for consideration.
