Swimming Lesson Level Descriptions
Our Swim Lesson program is designed to give children more confidence and familiarity with the water.  This confidence will make them better, safer, and smarter swimmers.

Our method of teaching swimming is what differs us from any other swim lesson program.  Flotation devices attached to the swimmer are not used, which allows the swimmer to build their own self confidence in the water.  It is this method of teaching that will give your child the best swimming techniques possible.

Adult Group Lessons

This class is designed to give support, and teach techniques for the novice adult swimmer.  Skills include floating, basic strokes, fundamental and work on over coming insecurities in and around the water.  40 minute class, 1:6 ratio.

Water Tot and Parent (Ages 6mos - 3 years)

This class is designed to give parents and child a chance to bond and become acclimated to the water.  Class is filled with tons of games and activities to stimulate creative play and sharing.  Children must wear swim diapers, if not potty trained.  Parent is required to be in the water with the child.  30 minute class, 1:12 ratio.

Tadpoles (Ages 3-5)
Child must be 3 years old by the first day of class.  Height requirement of 39" is required for safety.  Children become more comfortable with the water and have fun!  Some skills children will learn in this group are pool safety, how to blow bubbles, use of a kickboard, foundation of the front crawl stroke, and supported back float.  30 minute class, 1:4 ratio.

Minnows (Ages 4-6)
The Minnow Level is a step up from the Tadpoles. Children are able to swim across the shallow end using a noodle or flotation item.  They are more independent and have more swim experience compared to tadpoles.  At this level, they also are starting to develop a little more technique.  They are also starting to be able to get those arms out of the water when doing strokes.  45 minute class, 1:5 ratio

Goldfish (Ages 6-8)

This group will focus more on teaching the technical skills of swimming a proper front crawl (Freestyle).  Swimmers will attempt to swim front crawl with their face in the water while blowing bubbles.  They will also learn the foundation for the backstroke and improve front/back floating abilities.  The swimmer will also start to build confidence in deeper water swimming. 40 minute class, 1:6 ratio.

Starfish  (Ages 6-10)

The focus for this group will be to expand the swimmers freestyle and backstroke technique.  They will learn the proper bilateral breathing technique for freestyle, as well as rotation on backstroke.  Also, swimmers in this group will learn to tread water and swim in the deep end of the pool.  And finally, they will begin to learn the concept of diving. 40 minute class, 1:8 ratio.

Jellyfish   (Ages 8-12)

Swimmers in this group should be able to swim four lengths of the pool freestyle with bilateral breathing and 2 lengths of the pool backstroke. They will start to learn the concept and technique of breaststroke.  Expanding on level 2, they will learn to tread water for at least 2 minutes and perfect their dive.40 minute class, 1:8 ratio.

Dolphins  (Ages 8 & Up)
This is our second most advanced group. Swimmers should be able to swim at least 6 lengths of the pool freestyle using bilateral breathing and at least 4 lengths of the pool backstroke.  They also should be able to kick breaststroke with a board and tread water for at least 4 minutes.  40 minute class, 1:8 ratio.

Sharks (Ages 9 & Up)

This is our most advanced lesson group without being a member of the swim team. Swimmers in this group should be able to swim at least 8 lengths of the pool freestyle, 6 lengths of the pool backstroke, and 1 length breaststroke.  They will learn the foundation of the butterfly stroke.  They will start to get a feel for what it would be like to be a member of the swim team, by learning some training techniques.  40 minute class, 1:8 ratio.

*Swimmers may advance or be placed in a higher level regardless of their age pending approval of the instructor and Aquatics Director.*
