Licensed childcare director certified in early childhood education to facilitate educational programs for members ages five through twelve in Newport, RI. The licensed childcare director will be responsible for implementing an environment that is safe, structured and engaging for our Club members.

Job Requirements

Rhode Island Teaching Certification in Elementary Education or ECE required. 
• Experience preferred
• Bachelor degree required
• Citizenship, residency or work VISA in the United States required.

Job Description/Duties


Under the direction of the Senior Director of Programs & Membership the Licensed Childcare Director is responsible for leading our Kids Clubhouse (Licensed Childcare) programming and implementing appropriate educational programs for the KCH curriculum throughout Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County sites. In that role, he/she will ensure that a variety of education activities are provided for all members. Responsible for homework help, safety activities, and implementation of other educational curriculums provided by BGCA. This position requires planning experiential educational programming and activities at Camp Grosvenor, including the Summer Learning program. This position works primarily with 5-12 year olds in the licensed childcare, however works with all age groups and all staff. In addition, this position has administrative responsibilities, including budgeting and staff supervision for the licensed childcare.

1. Ensure that a rich education program (as outlined above) is implemented as a major component of the licensed childcare. Ensure that this program is aligned with the learning standards of Newport County public schools, keeping in mind that all programs should be fun and engaging since programs are implemented during the after school and vacation hours for children. Ensure that all requirements and outcomes of specific funding sources are met, i.e. Reading Reaps Rewards, Hasbro Summer Learning Initiative (HSLI), and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). 

2. Help ensure that all of the Clubs seasonal programs are implemented with structured member choice, that are fun and safe, and that contains opportunities for educational enhancement, skill building and character development. Help establish objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission. Follow all policies and procedures established by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County.

3. Manage and implement the Summer Learning Program for campers ages five through ten. Assist with the hiring and supervision of program teachers and staff. Create a fun experiential learning opportunity for all campers. Welcome funders and site evaluators into the program for observations.

4. Provide leadership for summer camp.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County offers a variety of programs for children, teens, adults and families. Programs include after school licensed child care, homework help, computers and technology, athletics, swimming lessons and aquatics,  summer camp, a fitness center, dance, music and music production, and the fine arts.
